The San Clemente Ocean Festival is seeking a new Executive Director, as Peggy Vance retires and passes the trident to a new leader.

Updated: Nov 22

SAN CLEMENTE (November 18, 2024) It is with admiration and gratitude that the San Clemente Ocean Festival (SCOF) announces the retirement of the nonprofit’s Executive Director, Peggy Vance, who is stepping down after 24 years of leadership on December 31, 2024. After Peggy guides the hiring and onboarding of a new E.D., the Board will welcome her back as a volunteer in 2025!

While Peggy’s employment started in 2001, her involvement began many years earlier as a volunteer Board member. The San Clemente Ocean Festival was Peggy’s introduction to our town and community, after her move from AZ in 1994.

During her tenure as Executive Director, Peggy raised over $1,000,000 in Sponsor income for the event. In addition, she oversaw the donation of more than $313,000 to local organizations, including the SC City Lifeguards, high school scholarships, the Ocean Institute, and many others.

In 2025, SCOF will celebrate its 47th annual festival celebrating “The Greatest Show on Surf” at the beach near the SC Pier. The Board is accepting applicants and hopes to ensure the continuity of its leadership by hiring a new Executive Director.
